The Small Things: My 1920's Bag

I think this is the start of a new style of blog post/series for this blog, as you all know I enjoy posting and talking about what I wear but the accessories don't really get much of a look in. Oh and by accessories I don't mean just jewelery and bags, we are talking which coffee I enjoy having in my hand as a walk across town to my favourite magazine that month.

So naturally I would start with a bag, I got this amazing one from my parents last year for my 17th birthday, I believe it is 1920's style, but either way I love it, it did have a chain so you could wear it over the shoulder, but I took it off and have temporarily misplaced it *cough* *cough* lost it *cough* *cough*.

The beading and design of this bag is amazing, it fits really well with a lot of outfits, and even a jeans and tee combo, it makes you look put together without too much effort!

Wishing Under a Tree: My Christmas Wishlist

I am somewhat nervous about this post, I have never done a wishlist that hasn't been scrawled on a piece of paper for my parents to tell to relatives when they have no idea and more importantly St. Nicholas. Christmas is one of those times in the year when I feel it is acceptable to be completely outrageous and extravagant but one mustn't forget it is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus *insert nativity play here*

Now, these are the top 4 presents that I would love to find under the pine needles, all wrapped up with ribbons on the 25th of December.


  1. A Joules "Yellow Jwalkerbrolly Walker Brolly". I have gone with out an umbrella for far to long, 2 years infact, and I figured this would be the ideal brolly to restart the love affair with them. It also satisfies my desire to not wear my not so clean cut Peter Storm rain coat. 
  2. Rosie Huntington Whitley for Autograph @ M&S Pyjamas, I am not fussed as to which set, but I would love to be a proud owner of some.
  3. The Great Gatsby DVD. Glamour, 1920's clothes and parties, need I say more?
  4. Finally some knee high Timberland lace up boots. I tried on a pair the other week and my my my they are by far the comfiest boots I have tried since my Hunter Wellington Boots. 


There it is a  short but hopefully sweet wishlist for Christmas. But above all I would like all the military personnel serving to be back home for the day to see children, or parents. or siblings.

The Book Club: Three at once

The holidays have arrived and I am reading more than ever despite the pile of homework sitting in the corner of my room. I have done some I promise, and two of these books are college related.

The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul (Deborah Rodriguez) and The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini) are both books that I read in order to write my Extended essay, and I was pleasantly surprised when both of them lived up to what I previously thought were hyped up reviews. Both books are very different sides of the same coin. Telling tales of the hardships and wonders of Kabul and it's people during political and religious turmoil. I personally loved all the characters, and couldn't pick a favourite out for you.

This entangling and almost dream like scene played out in New York during the nineteen twenties, captures your heart and your mind as you enter the dizzying heights of Mr.Gatsby's parties narrated by Nick. The whole story gave me a different idea of life post WW1, I always thought it was a rather dark time now I have other ideas.
Now this is a reread for me, and once again I was enchanted by Daisy and was mystified by Gatsby the only character that made sense to me was Mr. Caraway or Nick. If you have seen the film I suggest you read this it has a very different feel to it.

All of the above books, made me laugh, cry and feel genuine happiness for the characters. I think what surprised me most is that you feel like you know all of the characters as well as you would your mother or best friend.

Next up is: The Apartment by Greg Baxter

The Book Club.

The book club. For me a classic symbol of intelligence, and literary love. Exactly the sort of club I would love to belong to, but there is one problem. That problem is that I read a lot, and by a lot I mean 1-3 books in a week depending on where I am and what I am doing. Now I stopped reading so much for the last few academic terms, in order to learn... this was before I discovered my new reading spot.

I have migrated from my bed with its feather duvet and soft pillows, to my window. Now this may seen strange but it means I can sit and read as though I was outside, but without needing to find earphones that work properly. Yes I am one of those people who listens to music while I read, as a result all the books I read have a soundtrack, that only I can hear. 

Now back to this problem of mine, I read a lot. It has got to the stage where I now read instead of doing college work, which is why I am writing this post, to help with this rediscovered addiction to reading and book shopping! 

To make things worse my notepad with my to-do list in, is my bookmark!

So I have an idea. Probably one that no one will want to take part in...

An Online Book Club. One: it will control my reading habit, by one book every 2 weeks and two: I will discover books I would have never read before. 

So start I have reading list that I would like anyone who has read this far, to look at and comment their favourite. In my next post I will announce the winner and everyone will find a copy of this book, even if you have read it before and sit down with a cup of tea or coffee and some cake and just read.
