Fancy in pink.

So April has begun with the last coursework deadline for the IB, then it will be a month of revision... I just hope that it is sunny so I can make notes and read up on topics outside. However it is Easter this month so that means chocolate! Not much though I am trying to eat clean and workout at the moment to de-stress, as I find that get worked up a lot easier when I don't! Besides the nearly endless college work I have been loving the colour pink, which is a bit of a shock as I tend to stick to blue when it comes to colour, but don't these look so good:

If you have read this space on the internet before you will know that I wear these tights at every opportunity, you cannot tel from the picture but that have the silhouettes of Paris' most famous monuments.  and go really nicely with short skirts and shorts, of which I own plenty. (Only because I was gifted long legs)
So instead of blogging and going on fancy day trips like a lot of blogger do on their weekends I have been working as a lifeguard and swimming teacher, not new to me of course, but I am working extra at the moment to make up for the fact I won't be around in June. And naturally I have been revising my french by reading this funny little book, which I might do a review of in English and French.. maybe. I have only made it through one chapter in a week as I have to look up words but regardless of whether the book is good I really enjoy reading in another language.
I nearly knocked over the tripod several times while shooting this outfit. I have done a similar thing before with different dress also from Hollister, layering it over an old school shirt to almost create a new dress, I have also layered skirts and jumpers with dresses here and here.  And having worn school uniform for so long I just couldn't resist being super preppy by wearing my brogues which I believe to be from Clarks.

The Start of Something.

The skirt is by no means finished! I have more layers to add and a bow to make, but I am proud of what I have don so far, and I cannot wait to wear it the summer or maybe even this spring. Given it has been since last summer that I took to my sewing machine full of ideas tangled in measuring tape and thread I am glad I made the time to do so again before I go through what will probably be some of the most stressful weeks of my life so far in the lead up to my IB exams!

I am also looking for some feedback for my blog in order for me to do a good write up about for my CAS folder, which if you don't know is why I started the blog almost a year and a half ago.

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink.

I didn't meet anyone in my year at school who hasn't watched Mean Girls including all the boys, such a pity we had school uniform as I am pretty sure quite a few of us would have followed this rule.

ON WEDNESDAYS WE WEAR PINK.

Mean Girls, Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Wild Child were my film bibles as a tween and young teenager even if they weren't entirely accurate, they were good films and gave people like me hope in a clique filled secondary school!

So in honor of the fact that Mean Girls is turning 10 on the 30th of April of the year I have created a very pink outfit, using my pink checked shirt from Crew and my sisters lacy skirt from H&M, 10x preppier than Karen Smith and Co. ever would. I just wish I had my new Chelsea boots when I took these photos last weekend, they would have matched perfectly, especially with some frilly socks!

There are certainly perks to being that same size as my sister, I get to wear her clothes!

Now I really Must get back to studying if I am ever going to pass this course, wish me luck *cries at the amount of deadlines I have*  no but seriously I must go and study!

XO, Miriam

P.S. How do you wear pink? and will you be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Mean Girls?

P.S.S. I know it is a Sunday ;)

Lately.

So I have decided I want to update you all on my life and how I want to improve my blog over the next few months. Now I am not one for new years resolutions, I tried and failed at them this year, so I have decided I ought to set smaller more achievable goals throughout the year. But before I get into that I should probably warn you that the first 6 months of next year are going to be super hectic for me, due to exams, a holiday in June and so many coursework deadlines that I am afraid to even look at the list anymore.

So my life as of late, has been full of cultural experiences and IB work, as you all know I went to Imagine Dragons last Friday and it was just the absolute best, link to the post here. But before that I went to a live screening of the Royal Ballet's The Nutcracker, and you have no idea how much love I have for this show, it is by far the most beautiful thing I have seen on stage since I saw Swan Lake earlier in the year except with this show, I spent the entire time lusting over the costumes... *make plans to sew some inspired dresses*

With school work I suppose you could say it is getting stressful, I have had 2 oral exams over the last week, I have 4 deadline for the end of this week, all of my projects are started just not finished... some are in 2nd and 3rd drafts so it's not like I left it to the last minute... oopps

And the bit you have all been waiting for my BLOGGING GOALS!

Number 1:  Spend more time getting the correct lighting, and wait to do photos another day when the quality would be much better. So basically I want to spend more time on getting really great photos and possibly videos..

Number 2: Refine my niche. I feel like I am still standing between three places, fashion, books and baking and I want to work out how I can make it work better or at least create better timetable so to speak to make it flow.

Number 3: I want to meet more bloggers, and become more involved in the blogging community, which I am finding hard to do, because I get caught up doing school work or reading etc

Number 4: My final goal is to get sewing and then show you what I have made, because you never know I might inspire you to do the same.

xoxo Miriam

Coffee Pots and Formulas

It is that time of year again, time for revision. Now I don't do my IB exams until next may, but like the overachiever that I try to be I am also taking AS maths, so my head is full of formulas, algebra and numbers.

I work best in the morning, so there has been no lie ins for me this holiday. If you are the same as me I recommend a cup of milky coffee, and a relaxed breakfast before getting to work.

TIP 1: Work out when you work best, to maximise productivity!

Now you know when you are working, where will you do the work? I personally enjoy working outside as there are no distractions and I can't use my wi-fi, therefore no social networking!

TIP 2: Turn off all communications, and remove any possible distractions!

TIP 3: Work out how you revise! Here are some of the ways I revise:

  • Flashcards
  • Mind Maps
  • Past Papers
  • Mini tests
  • Memory games (vocab, etc)

If you have any other methods please comment them below, and if you have any questions!

Black and White

Many things are black and white, but more live within that grey area that sits between. This  was a topic that had been weighing on Alison's mind for a while now. The question was where did she fit in all of this. There were things that only she knew which made them black and white to her eye."It's as though as soon as I say what I think the issue becomes a grey area to be avoided" she said out loud to an empty room. The sound echoed off the fading white walls. The only thing that will forever be black and white even when they fade are the keys of a piano. Her fingers played softly as if she were trying to separate the white and black from the grey that was her mind. Then a whisper to herself "I am the grey area".
